Placing Seats on a Theatre Map

If you intend selling reserved seats graphically in your theatre, you will need to place the seats on your picture. Prior to placing seats on your theatre map, a graphic representation of the theatre must be placed into the theatre maps window Click Here for more detail. If you intend selling reserved seats non-graphically in this theatre, or this theatre is used for festival or travelling troupe ticket sales, placing seats on the map is not required.

  1. Open the Theatre Map Window

  2. Find the Theatre Map you wish to place the seats on

    The Theatre Map Window will contain your theatre graphic, similar to the one above. Click Here for a detailed description of this window and it's functions.

  3. Decide if your seats will be square or circular. Select the appropriate shape button.

  4. Click Add Grid of Seats

    This function will open the Add Block of Seats Window and add a section of seats. The Add Seats function adds single seats to the map. After clicking the add seat button simple click where you would like the seat to be placed.

    Number of Seats
    Enter the number of seats to be added. (It will default to the total number of seats remaining to be added to the theatre and will decrease as you continue to add seats).
    Number of Columns
    Enter the number of columns (left to right) to have the seats placed into the grid.
    Spacing Vertical
    The number of pixels of vertical spacing (left to right) to have between the seats.
    Spacing Horizontal
    The number of pixels of horizontal spacing (up and down) to have between the seats.

  5. Click

    This will place the grid (block) of seats you've created in the upper left corner of your theatre map. Using the Select Seats Button you can now click and drag the grid of seats into the appropriate place on your theatre map. Continue adding seats (grid by grid) until the total number of seats have been placed on your graphic representation.

  6. Click to save the seats when you are finished

     

  7. Select Seats

    Selecting a row or column of seat by placing pointer above the upper left corner of the first seat you wish to select, click and hold your mouse button and encircle the seats you wish to align, release your mouse to highlight the seats. To select multiple seats hold the <SHIFT> key as you click on each seat. Then align and space the seats using the alignment and spacing functions. 

  8. Align your seats

    Once all the seats have been placed on the graphic representation, use the alignment buttons to ensure seats are straight within each row and column. Described below are the alignment functions.

    Alignment Functions  

    Aligns the selected row with the top of the row.
    Aligns the selected row with the bottom of the row.
    Aligns the selected row to the left of the row.
    Aligns the selected row to the right of the row.

    As well as aligning the seats you can ensure they are evenly spaced and distributed using the functions described below.

    Spacing Functions

    Horizontal Distribute
    Evenly distributes the selected seats horizontally.
    Vertical Distribute
    Evenly distributes the selected seats vertically.
    Redistribute
    Opens the Distribute Seats Window allowing the selected seats to be distributed both horizontally and vertically.

     

  9. Once all the seats have been placed on the map click Save

    When all the physical seats have been placed on the map a check will appear in the seats placed bix under the theatre notes .

  10. When your seats are placed, you will need to arrange them in a logical order, so that Theatre Manager can connect each seat to its name. Click here for information on Reordering Logical Seats.
