Current Recommendation At the current time, we find that or 9.2.x works great on G3's/G4's and older iMacs. One of the first released DVD iMacs (circa January 2000) should upgrade to OS 9.1 with the latest firmware patches as there have been numerous reports on MacFixIt about problems with OS 9.0 and those specific machines. An OS-X version is under development. Version 6 will run in classic compatibility mode and is supported using the data bridge server component. Older versions of the operating system If you are running any version earlier than 9.1, we recommend upgrading.

Special note for win 98, NT, 2000 Pro and XP users - March 2002 Recently Microsoft sent an e-mail recommending upgrading the Win2k and WinNT machines to a newer version of Microsoft Data Access Components, version 2.7 which is shipped with Windows XP but is now available for previous Windows OSs. A customer reports that after upgrading each machine about a week ago and they have noticed a significant performance increase on the network, especially with Theatre Manager. He cannot be certain that this is what's solved a lot of our issues, but Microsoft does claim MDAC 2.7 corrects & improves a lot of issues regarding how Windows accesses data across networks mostly for SQL, but also for odbc and other universal types of data access.
This has reduced their Free Block Structure damage 3-4 times a week to nothing so, it's definately worth the upgrade anyway. |

Windows 95, 98, Me and XP home |
If you are using these versions of Microsoft's OS's, we strongly recommend converting to Windows NT4 SP5 or later, Win 2000 pro, SP2 or later or win XP pro for the most stable operation. There are issues with the Win 95/98/Me/XP home operating system that affect mutli user operation and network connectivity that have been documented by vendors like Symantec and FlexWare as well as Microsoft. In single user operation, 95/98/Me and XP Home are ok.

Windows NT |
If you are running NT 4, upgrade to service patch 5 or later to address a host of problems Microsoft documented with their earlier versions of NT 4. We have tested Theatre Manager on Service Pack 3, 4, 5 & 6A with no known problems. If you are using NT or Win 2000 pro server, download
and run the following installer. It will update the registry settings
to prevent any caching of data for shared applications. These settings,
according to Microsoft, are appropriate for sharing databases on a network |
