Preparing for the Update

Theatre Manager will

• Reorganize the database
• Indicate that certain payment methods (cash, check and pass/gift certificates) will open a cash drawer if present.

The user will need to

Before upgrade	Upgrade to version 5.72 if you are not already at that version. Refer to earlier release notes about the process. Review release notes starting from the version you are currently using, up to and including this version. Previous upgrades may require you to perform additional steps before upgrading and/or after upgrading. They may also list areas of Theatre Manager you need to update with new data requirements before using the new version.
After upgrade	If you have an electronic cash drawer, connect it to a com port and indicate, in the user's preferences, which com port that it is connected to If you do not have an electronic cash drawer, you need do nothing.

Web Sales

• Added a small fix to HTML emails being sent out so that they are properly recognized if the "<body" tag has parameters in it.
• Added a fix to long emails so that they are now broken apart properly when sending to an SMTP server. This only affected emails longer than 1000 characters.
• A user checking out with an order that has no value (i.e. contains comp tickets) can now enter notes and they will be saved in the order record
• Patrons with an order that has no value will also receive an email informing them that their order has been processed.
• The login process has been enhanced so that you can send a shopping cart number to it. This was done so that the email sent to a patron can contain a link to the web pages and the specific shopping cart - then they can click on the link, see the browser open, log in and find out what they purchased.
• The checkout page has been enhanced to default the credit card type and expiry date to the main credit card nubmer on file. This should help the patron buying online as they then need only enter their card number. Note: the credit card number is not displayed to avoid any security and/or privacy issues.

A new feature was added to the 'Accounting' menu under the web sales listener option. It is called 'shopping carts'. You can now display shopping carts in a list using a number of criteria and purge out old ones (if you wish). You can also double click on any shopping cart to see the status of each item in the cart.
