  • (optional) reminder to change the password settings

Note: this version requires an install at each workstation because of the underlying changes to the word processor component.

Preparing for the Update

Theatre Manager will

The user will need to

Before upgrade
  • Read the release notes for any version prior and follow the directions
  • Stop web sales and close all shopping carts.
  • Complete your end of day. Deposit all funds, create all sales entries and post to the GL.
  • Verify the database using data utilities and ensure that everything is ok.
  • Make a backup copy of the database
  • If making changes to the web pages, make a backup of the web pages before changing any pages.
  • Run the installer on the server (recommended), or any other machine of your choice on the network
  • When the upgrade is finished and you see the login screen, have other users login and they wil lreceive the new version. (note: if you receive a note that mentions you have older components, please run the installer on that machine as well).
After upgrade
  • This upgrade MUST be installed on each workstation
  • Quit and web listeners and restart them

  • You may be asked if you want to implement Visa/Mastercard PABP compliant password regime for users. This means that users will need to enter a user id (like Smith_Jones) and a password. You may prefer to skip this step and:
    • check all user id's via employee setup first
    • then go to Setup->System Preferences->Security tab
    • and implement the standards and/or strengthen them
    once you have told all users what their user id is. Note that PAPB compliance means that there will be no user list to select from.

    If you elect not to implement this to satisfy the PAPB requirements, you will be asked at the next main version upgrade with the same message as a reminder.

    While it is recommended that you employ PABP security settings to satisfy VISA, we highly recommend that you defer doing it right away and take the following steps:
    1. Ignore this message for now and don't set password compliancy
    2. go into each employee and change their user id on the 'Access' tab to be useful
    3. let everybody know what it is
    4. And then go to setup->system preferences->security tab and set the PAPB compliance settings there
Optional Steps
  • Change the path name of the web listener trace debug log directory in the TMDB.txt file on the web listener only if the default path is not appropriate for your venue.
    • The Mac Default is :User:SHARED:
    • The PC Default is C:\BoxOffice
  • if you need to change the default settings, the TMDB.txt file is found in the:
    • C:\Program Files\THeatre Manager directory on a PC
    • Applications directory by (right click) Show Package Contents on 'Theatre Manager' application and then navigating to the contents:MacOS folder on the Mac
  • The contents of a typical TMDB.txt preference file is below. The parameter to change is the 'WEBLOGPATH=' if you do not wish to use the default settings.

    DB=TheatreManagerDemo
    IP=127.0.0.1
    PING=NO
    PRINTERTYPE=31/0/0
    PRINTER1=255/192.168.1.1@10001
    PRINTER2=255/192.168.1.1@10001
    LOCALHELP=NO
    WEBTHREADS=5
    WEBTIMESLICE=20
    WIRELESS=NO
    WEBLOGPATH=C:/BOXOFFICE (or :users:shared for mac)
