The freeblock structure only needs to be repaired if a quick check of the database, that is run by data utilities, responds with the error window.
If this window does not appear there is no need to repair the freeblock structure.
It is suggested that repairs are run after hours or first thing in the morning. Generally, you do not want to run a repair during a time that you would otherwise be selling tickets. These repairs take time and need to run uninterrupted.
If you decide to run the repair overnight make certain that all automatic backup systems are turned off. If a backup starts to run while a repair is occurring the backup will interrupt the repair. This could result in the loss of the database.
*DO NOT BYPASS THIS STEP*. Running a repair without a backup copy of the database could result in the loss of the database if the repair is not completed in the correct manner. If you do not know how to create a physical backup of the database contact your system administrator or to Click Here learn how.
Logging on in single user mode simply means only one user is logged on to the program.
This will open the Database Utilities Window

The following window will appear.

Note: You will need to single click to highlight any one of the files to activate the |
This button is located at the bottom of the Data Utilities Window, on the right hand side. This will open the Repair the Database Window.

Do not interrupt the repair once it has begun, doing so may result in a loss of data. When repairing the freeblock structure, you only need run the quick repair. On average a quick repair will run for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Keep in mind that this time can vary depending on the speed of the computer and the size of the users database. Do not use the exhaustive repair as this process can take upwards of 8 hours. Once the quick repair button is clicked the repair will begin.
This should be done in order to ensure that there are no other problems with the database, keep in mind that you must be in single user mode in order to check the database for problems. It is important to note that if there is more than one freeblock damaged, the repair will only repair the first damaged freeblock it finds. If there is more than one damaged freeblock you will find out when the database is checked again. If nothing is found, continue to use the program as usual. If there is more freeblock damage, go back to step one and start this process over until there is no more freeblock damage found.
