Stopping the Web Sales Listener for Backups
The Web Sales Listener can be logged off automatically for backups, and then
restarted authomatically to resume sales during the night.
This is accomplished by specifying times in the Miscellaneous
tab of Default Data.
- A time must be entered into Force all users off at X so backups can run.
- An approximate backup time must be entered.
The Web Sales Listener will log off of the database at the specifed time,
but not close. When the approximate time has elapsed, the Web Sales Listener
will log back into the database, so that online sales can resume. Ensure that
the appoximate backup time is suitable for your data, and allows a small amount
of extra time for unforseen delays.
When a patron is buying tickets online, and they connect while the Listener
is off line for a backup, they will load a special web page that notifies
them as to the backup being run, and an approximate time to log back in and
try their purchase again. The special page is named "TMbackupInProgress.html"
and is located in the WebPages directory in the same directory as your Theatre
Manager database. This page can be customized to your organization's requirements
or standards.
This backup time should not be set for a time where chances of web sales is
high (if possible, run backups late at night or early in the morning, since
this is the slow period for web use).
